* Debe haber trabajado entre 1942 y 1946
* Debe tener domicilio en Estados Unidos
* Debe tener los documentos que se piden en el Formulario de Reclamación (algunas personas necesitarán sacar su pasaporte o acta de nacimiento, de matrimonio o de defunción)
* Debe presentar su Formulario de Reclamación y los documentos a más tardar el 5 de enero de 2009 en algún consulado de México en Estados Unidos
Durante el Programa Bracero se contrató a muchas personas para trabajar en Estados Unidos. Entre 1942 y 1946 a los braceros se les descontó el diez por ciento de sus salarios para un fondo de ahorro que muchos braceros alegan que nunca les fue devuelto.
Hace ocho años, varios ex braceros entablaron una demanda federal a nombre de ellos mismos y de otros braceros contra el Gobierno Mexicano. Para resolver esta demanda, el Gobierno Mexicano ha aceptado proporcionar un beneficio único de 38 mil pesos mexicanos que usted puede reclamar si cumple con los requisitos.
Si tiene los documentos necesarios debe presentar personalmente su Formulario de Reclamación en algún consulado mexicano a más tardar el 5 de enero de 2009.

Nota importante:
* El plazo para entregar Formatos de Reclamación
se extendió hasta el 5 de enero de 2009.
If you can demonstrate that you worked in the Bracero Program, or if you are the surviving spouse, son or daughter of such bracero you could get an award of 38,000 Mexican pesos
* You must demonstrate that you worked between 1942 and 1946
* You must live in the United States
* You must have the documents required on the claim form (some people will need passport or birth or marriage or death certificates)
* You must return your completed claim form no later than January 5th of 2009 to one of the Mexican Consulates
During the Bracero Program, Mexicans were contracted to work in the United States. Between 1942 and 1946 ten percent of their wages were deducted from each paycheck and set aside for a savings fund. Many workers, however, never had their funds returned to them.
Eight years ago, some of these braceros filed a class action federal lawsuit, on behalf of themselves and other braceros, against the Mexican Government. Those braceros and the Mexican Government have now entered into a proposed settlement,which may entitle you to a one-time award of 38,000 pesos from the Mexican Government, if you provide all of the required documents.
If you have the necessary documents, you must personally bring your claim form to one of the Mexican Consulates no later than January 5, 2009.

ICE is Intensfying Their Efforts!
ICE has been intensifying its harassment of immigrant workers in the U.S. for the last two years, and is now using criminal charges to intimidate them. Many foreign-born workers who have been administratively detained by ICE are incarcerated for long periods while they await a deportation hearing. There they are subject to serious abuses, including denial of needed medical care, as has been documented in recent news reports.

I am sick and tired of what is happening to our undocumented brothers and sisters. We need to be the voice of the silent! We need to do stop the denegration and oppression of our our families. These same tactics have been used on our people for 500 years.
